Fabiana Santiago, from Crystal Lake, Illinois, began her ballet training at the age of 4 at Judith Svalander School of Ballet under the direction of Judith Svalander. There she performed various lead and soloist roles in the Nutcracker, Swan Lake, Coppelia, and an original production of The Passionate Frida Kahlo. Throughout High School, she completed summer intensives with the Boston Ballet, and Bolshoi Ballet Academy in New York, where she won a full scholarship to train with the academy in Moscow, Russia and was invited to attend and perform year round. At this time, Fabiana was accepted and awarded a talent scholarship to attend Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana, where she completed a Bachelor in Fine Arts – Dance Performance. Fabiana completed her sophomore year at the Bolshoi Ballet Academy in Moscow, Russia, and trained with the international graduating class for 6 months under the direction of Marina Lionova. Fabiana performed on the historic Bolshoi Theater in Moscow, starring as the Lead Gypsy from “La Fille Mal Gardee” and the Spanish duet from “La Kachucha” (Sombra). While at Butler University, Fabiana performed in various Classical, Neo-Classical and Contemporary Ballet roles, including the Flower and Snow ensembles and the Arabian Soloist in the Nutcracker. She also choreographed and staged two contemporary pieces performed for the university students and the public. After graduating Butler University, she was selected to train and perform with Ajkun Ballet Theatre in NY, under the direction of Chiara Ajkun. Fabiana performed in Chiara Ajkun’s, “Carmen,” at the Egg Theater, Mark Morris Dance Center, and the Hostos Center for the Arts and Culture. Finally Fabiana’s passion for performing and dancing transcends to the students she teaches. Fabiana was a faculty member at the Rockford School of Dance in Rockford IL, where she taught and choreographed performances for her students.
